Question:

Irish Citizenship, or French citizenship?

My father's mother was born to a french woman, and they are in possession of her birth certificate (Marseilles.) and so by the technicality of the law, my father's mother is a french citizen automatically, and only needs to go and collect her passport.

So, will that make it easier for me to apply, because She is already one? Or will I still miss out, because my father was not a registered french citizen when I was born?

My grandfather (same side of the family.) was born to an irish father, who was born in Dublin, so will that mean I can apply for that if the french passport fails?

My father failed to register as a citizen before I was bor in Ireland too.

(rolls eyes.) lol

  1. 1) Where does ur grand mum lives?

If she lives in France then of course she is french & has the right to french citizenship, otherwise it wont be as easy as u say to collect french passport.

If she lived most of her life out of france & even gets french passport she cannot pass the french citizenship to your father. So you cannot get. The only way you can get french citizenship if u beg French foreign ministry for ancestry visa (which they usually say in books but never give). You will need to live in France for 5 years, speak the french language fluently & out of 5 years in the last three years u must be paying TAX for each month's salary then you will be granted PR. After u have PR for three years then u can apply for citizenship & u will have to denounce any other citizenship you already have.

    Same rule applies to Ireland.
