Irish Derby Final: Take the gamble on Barefoot Bullet
Barefoot Bullet is the greyhound in tonight’s Irish Derby final with odds that shout out Value! At 6-1 he may be worth a punt considering the draw in tonight’s 9.30pm showdown at Shelbourne over 550yards.
Trained under Paul Hennessy, you shouldn’t doubt any optimism you may have in he’s actual chances of triumph after the man from Gowran is known for producing Derby finalists and has already claimed one title three years ago.
Hennessy won the Irish Derby in 2007 with Tyrur Rhino and will know exactly what he’s up against having trained at the Tyrur kennels, who also have two strong fancies in tonight’s line up.
Tyrur Big Mike (Evens) will occupy trap four and Tyrur McGuigan (10-1) will be beside him in trap three. There were concerns about the draw which led to some pundits suggesting that the brothers may just create enough problems for one another on the break to make it a very-open final.
Both brothers are known for there great early pace in the competition and if problems arise as anticipated, then Bullet is the one to go for in trap six and isn't to far off with early pace either.
Hennessy, who’s a very realistic individual, is not inclined towards taking things for granted and he admits to getting great satisfaction from reaching the Derby final again.
He said: “It’s great to be there and being part of the final occasion and we’re all looking forward to it down here. The dog is in great form, not a bother on him and hopefully he can get a good run in the final”.
