  1. I am very into genealogy. I went on ancestry.com and after failing to find much information I bought the enableance of access to actual information (instead of guesses) that you get for about 30 dollars each month. I suggest going there, it's very helpful although if you mess up, you have to delete everything... I've learned the hard way. Enter in all the information about your family on the website that you can. Even Google helped me find information about my mother's grandmum that she didn't know about. It takes a lot of time, but it's very accurate if you're aware of what you're doing. Good luck, e-mail me if you need anymore help :]

  2. This is from a family tree on ancestry.com.  Is the the right Kate?

    --------------------------------------...

    ID: I125

    Name: Katherine "Kate" ROHAN

    s*x: F

    Death: 1878

    Change Date: 21 NOV 2002 at 05:42:50

Father: James ROHAN b: 1828 in Tipperary, Ireland

Mother: MaryAnne MORAN b: 1848 in Ireland

  3. Start with what you know... and for the sake of keeping records, download a software program such as Brother's Keeper... free to trial. This just helps to keep you organised. Type in all you know...

Then start looking for what you don't...

Before you pay to access a site, decide what you are looking for. Then try sites such as Genes Reunited, great for UK research, familysearch.org   which is free and of course, try googling the name you want as someone else may already be searching for the same.

Do you have access to your mother's birth certificate? That would give you some further information, as would her marriage certificate or any papers belonging to her family. Ask any family members if they have any information. We often forget the obvious.

    Best of luck.
