Irish Poli tipped to prevail in Electrical Castlebar Handicap Hurdle
Irish Poli has got a very good chance of winning the Sheridan Electrical Castlebar Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe in Ireland on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. A cash prize of €7,245 will be awarded to the winning horse.
The going will be good to firm in the 2 mile 4 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 18:35 GMT, and a total of 16 runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Definite All Star, Friendly Society, Irish Poli, Sizing Australia,
The Grey Express, Kirbybroguelantern, Markey Cee, Bondage, Diyla, First Impressions, Imperial Joey, Howya Buddy, Mister Benedictine, Black Rock Lake, Sunwake and Georgie.
Although the competition is expected to be quite tough, Irish Poli seems to be in good shape compared to others. He has got a very good stamina, thus will like the conditions at Ballinrobe. He will definitely attract a few bets in his favour today.
The nine-year-old gelding has participated in 27 races over hurdles, winning three of them and finishing third on the same number of times. In addition to that, he has also secured the runner up spot on a couple of times, which proves that he has the ability
to fight at the front with consistency.
The Patrick Martin’s trainee performed really well in his most recent run, as he finished second overall. He gave a tough time to his opponents back then, but struggled to match the stamina of the race winner.
However, things could prove to be different for Irish Poli today, as most of his rivals are also struggling for form. He will be partnered by young jockey, M. A. Enright, who has not yet won any race at this level.
There is a chance that Sizing Australia might also manage to make an impression in the race, as he is a decent performer. His form has been good, but will need some luck in order to finish on top of the table at Ballinrobe.
The 10-year-old gelding has participated in 12 races over hurdles, winning one of them. In addition to that, he has also managed to secure the runner up and third place on the same number of times.
Sizing Australia finished fourth in his previous race, but he will need a much better effort than that in order to challenge Irish Poli.
