Irish Reel in form for bagging the Follow Tipperary Races On Facebook Handicap (Division I)
The contestants that Follow Tipperary Races On Facebook Handicap (Division I) has pulled together have been deprived of success since quite a while. Twelve three-year and above runners will invade the seven furlong and 100 yards track on Tuesday, 24th
July at Tipperary. The prize money set for the race is €5,175.
A relatively reliable candidate for the race today is the five-year-old chestnut mare, Irish Reel. She has not claimed any race since quite some time but has at least displayed a certain level of consistency through the last two races that she took part
in.
Redback’s daughter ended third in the Follow Gowran Park On Facebook Apprentice Handicap on 3rd July, 2012 at Gowran Park over a mile. The race was won by, Apache Gold, while missing the race by just half a length was, Happy Anniversary.
The Irish chestnut mare was paired up with jockey, Marc Monaghan, and was entered as the favourite for the race. She tracked the leaders, turned to the right when entering the last furlong and maintained the pace through the wire.
The five-year-old mare out of mare, Serenad Dancer, was then part of the Tote Jackpot Handicap on 8th July, 2012 at Bellewstown over a mile. Irish Reel failed to improve the ranking but did not deteriorate it to a further driven down position.
She ended third behind the winner, Happy Anniversary.
It was the straight second time that the five-year-old was entered as the favourite.
This distance she raced through under the guidance of jockey, Pat Smullen. The duo made all the possible effort after exiting the fourth stall and got crowded only near the wire. The chestnut mare ranked second initially, took charge of the next three furlongs
and then had to compromise on the lead when inside the final furlong.
Lady Lyrath qualified as the runner-up of the race.
The Henry E. Callaghan bred will become the mount for jockey, Pat Smullen today and the two have been allotted the third gate to break from.
She will need to look out for Danequest who ended third in the most recent attempt and will have to retain the consistency in order to make an impact today.
