Irish Table Tennis Association accepts entries for Irish National Team Tournament
The Irish Table Tennis Association (ITTA) has announced that they will be accepting entries for the 2010-11 National Team Tournament, to be held from May 21-22 at Gormanston College, County Meath.
The association extended the date as there were entries coming from all around the country even after the due date. The completion will help to develop the best players in Irish table tennis and will also give a platform to rank the National Senior players.
The teams who will be participating in the championship must have five players, being either Male or Female on the squad and three of them will be named to participate in the matches. The players should be affiliated with the ITTA.
The Irish table tennis officials are hoping to develop players to participate at the international table tennis circuit. The players who will show notable performances will be selected for the National table tennis league.
For the local clubs must be affiliated with the Premier Division. The teams must have all the players registered or affiliated with the Premier Division during the current season.
The teams will be placed according to their ranking in the Butterfly Senior National Ranking List and Leagues played in Ireland. This division will ensure a balanced level of participation for all the players in the championship. Players from different divisions
are allowed to merge as a team to participate in the tournament. A best of five matches will be played and a team must win three matches in order to proceed to the next level.
This tournament will be ideal for young players, elite players and social players. It will also encourage them to play as teams if they are not already affiliated with some team or club.
The division winners of the championship will be awarded with trophies. The winners of the Premier Division will receive a special Paddy Berrigan Memorial Trophy.
The entries should be sent in no later than May 14 and the entry fee for each team is €60. The ITTA reserves the right to perform anti-doping test and they can disqualify a player is sufficient information is not provided by the player.
