The spirited shuttler Jonathan Dolan, who remained impressive in all of his encounters, showed up his remarkable class and bagged Men’s Singles U19 title after giving a severe treatment to his compatriot Joshua Magee in the final battle at the Irish U19 Open 2012 on Sunday, September 9, at Dublin, Ireland.
The higher ranked Jonathan, who was second seeded player in the tournament, remained consistent in his elevated play and managed to overpower his lower ranked opponent in a completely aggressive fashion.
The second seeded Jonathan was in complete control of the game in the final encounter as he played with precision and managed to overpower Joshua in a lopsided fashion by finishing up the match in two sets with a huge margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the third seeded Joshua showed aggression but failed to progress as his rival was on a different level. He could not match the speed and accuracy of his opponent and remained unable to escape defeat in straight sets in just 28 minutes.
The first game was a nightmare for the lower ranked Joshua as the in-form Jonathan put up strong show of aggressive badminton and took a staggering lead at the early stage.
The incredible Jonathan played with variations in his shots and managed a huge gap on score board until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, Jonathan continued showing up his amazing craft on court without facing any trouble and eventually remained successful in grabbing the set with an unbelievable 21-6 score on the board.
The following set was a little tough as Joshua put up good resistance in opening half and remained not far behind his rival on score board until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the impressive Jonathan stretched the gap by injecting more power into his shots. He pushed Joshua in all corners of the court and managed to finish off the second game with a dominating margin of 21-14.
The higher ranked Jonathan emerged as the title winner after defeating Joshua in straight sets with a 21-6 and 21-14 score on the board.
