Irish all-rounder Kevin O’Brien signed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 for the current season
Gloucestershire has signed up the Irish all-rounder, Kevin O’Brien, for the ongoing county season and he will be available till the end of the season.
The all-rounder became popular after his heroics against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The hard-hitter struck a brilliant 113 off only 63 balls, with the help of 13 fours and six hits out of the park.
O’Brien said that he is very happy and excited to play for Gloucestershire in the current season. He is looking forward to enhance his game and also to help his county win domestic competitions.
He said, ''I am very excited to have the opportunity to play for Gloucestershire, and work under one of the most successful coaches in domestic one day history. I am looking forward to getting over there and hopefully helping the team to achieve its goals in all forms of the game, but especially t20 and one day cricket.”
The other foreign cricketer signed by Gloucestershire this season, is the former Sri Lankan legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157.
O’Brien is excited about sharing the dressing room with the record breaking off-spinner. He feels that it is a great chance for him to learn the trade from the Sri Lankan legend, who has performed consistently over the years in International cricket as well as domestic.
“Hopefully I can have a great season, help Gloucestershire win trophies and improve my game even further. It is going to be an honour to play with Murali, and hopefully I can learn from guys who have performed so consistently in domestic cricket for many years,'' O’Brien added.
Apart from his devastating batting skills, O’Brien is more than useful with the ball and his medium pace bowling will be priceless in English conditions, where the bowl tends to move off the pitch.
The management of Gloucestershire would be hoping that he can make valuable contributions for the county.
