  1. True Irish dancers don't wear those awful wigs. They seem to be an American thing. And yes, they are horrendous.

  2. When my sisters were learning Irish dancing, my mother spent hours and hours curling my sisters hair before a contest. Today it seems the mothers have'nt got the time or patience to do this chore and its easier to buy a curly wig instead. I agree the wigs look awful.

  3. Ask Michael Flatfeet!

Sher nothing of him looks real!

  4. It's supposed to make the dancers look "lively".  I have been an adult dancer for six years (thankfully, the adults don't wear them usually, even here in the US!) and have seen the moms go from using the spike curlers to the wigs.  The wigs are so much easier!  But the bouncing curls are supposed to be a visual clue to the adjudicators (judges at competition) that the dancer has lots of energy and is jumping high off the ground.  One more thing to try to draw positive attention to yourself.

  5. Aren't they the daftest things!!! Totally stupid. Agree with you entirely!

  6. i don't know

    it looks absoloutely ridiculous
