  1. Scotland for sure.

Lived there for 4.5 years and traveled widely. A great welcome to anyone incl tourists or foreigners; wide variety of drinks, great corners, chatty and friendly local. Best value: they've got good quality stuff, and affordable ones for college students as well -catering to wide visitor range.

Been to England too. Pubs there are nice. But the locals don't  mingle with visitors. They keep to themselves mostly. And at some pubs staff aren't that friendly. They are just there to serve you.

But then again... why are 'Irish pubs' more famous around the world? The cosiness?

  2. The best bars are in Ireland, Dublin in fact.

I am an Englishman but have visited bars in a lot of countries but Dublin takes the biscuit.

They are bars, not fancy in any way and just as they may have been 100 years ago but they are throbbing with great music, great people and the best drink ever invented,   -GUINNESS.

One of the biggest tourist attraction in Dublin is the Guinness Brewery.  If you go, try to make time for a visit.

  3. you forgot wales and the valleys you can still get a pint fo £1.60

  4. Must be the Scots.

  5. It is definitely Scotland you are made to feel welcome.

  6. Boy u stunned me for a moment.

    Pubs is Ireland.

    Drink is Ireland.

Best value is the Middle Pub ,Crumlin N.Ireland,10 mile from Antrim Town, plus McGeowns Bar and Restaurant,Glenavy.

The Food is to really die for.(In McGeowns)

  7. Excuse you, the Welsh are very friendly and their pubs are nice too, they're  just not as loud as the others mentioned

  8. I'm English but..... will definately have to say Irish bars/pubs, the Irish know how to party and whatever Irish pub you go to in the world (I've been to a few!!) you are sure to have a good time, a late night of partying with a bad hangover in the morning!!!   :-)

Not sure about best value, probably all the same

  9. It's funny that no matter which pub I visit, I have a good time.  After a couple of pints of Guinness, everyone becomes lovely and friendly and we end up having a great laugh.  So it's not the country or the people of that country who make a pub, it's you and your attitude that determines your welcome.

As for value, the cost of the beer is only a small part of what you are paying for, so it's impossible to say where you'll get the best value.

If you're looking for the cheapest drink - get some cans from Asda and sit at home alone, but I guarantee you won't enjoy it as much as a night out, so is that good value?

  10. The best pubs as far as I can tell are in Scotland. Just to make it clear I'm English and live way down south but I've been lucky enough to spend time in Ireland and Scotland on business and pleasure trips and the best value and warmest welcome has always been in the Scottish pubs.

  11. Wrong try Wales, a pint of Brains SA (skull attack)!
