  1. My parents were Irish and slapping children was as American as apple pie.  Considered unacceptable today most children of Irish parents would say they were happy to have parents that loved them enough to correct their wrongs. My mother told me in her later years that they slapped us out of love and not out of hate and I know now she was right.

  2. I hate the Eu but I actually agree with this. My parents were awful with me, they once smacked me so hard they broke the wooden spoon on my back.

  3. I'm not Irish, but, WOW.

  4. i'm irish and i got slapped by my parents when i was small when i did something wrong. it's not seen as anything out of the normal in ireland. i never felt abused or anything it's just the norm! and if you do something really bad irish parents often slap their children with the wooden spoon!

  5. I think the fact that people consider slapping to be "the norm" is very worrying. there are other ways to dicipline your child, in my opinion, hitting your kid is not something I would consider to be an "act of love". Children can be diciplined and be made aware of their mistakes without resorting to violence.

I reckon this law is coming in just in time.

  6. Wow is right! Spanking children when done appropriately and out of love not hate can be a valuable tool to discipline them. Parents who do spank their children in this way are not abusing them at all. Of course there are some who go to far, but there are already laws on the books for child endangerment/physical abuse etc.....

I see the article refers to educators as well but corporal punishment in schools was outlawed many years ago.

  7. Hammar and berger sounds a very "bet-up" name to me.

We are real suckers for planetary "ologists"   Will not someone tell him go home and  to shut up     If you were as well paid as this trash spreader , think!  you could well lecture such  trash "wisdom" too

I was never Hammar-ed,  but a love intended cuffing that even mama tiger gives her cub,  did me no harm.  I guess some parent might not feel over philosophical at the sweet counter

but for that  we need government candy cops,(Gàrdai`Millis) with  suitable PARTY affiliation  and "independently" revised remuneration / s  (exclusive, mar è  eadh ) at these checkouts..  They would hold an "ology" from the" Hammar " academy

What I think? gives me the pip.

  8. I think the government needs to stop caring so much about what goes on in people's personal lives.
