Irish stars Stephanie Meadow and Leona Maguire top Ladies’ European Amateur Ranking 2011
Ladies' European Amateur Ranking (LEAR) has unveiled its rankings for the year 2011. Two players from Ireland have seized the top 2 positions this year. Stephanie Meadow ranks first and is followed by fellow countrywoman, Leona Maguire.
Stephanie Meadow made 1588.68 points in the 2011 season while Leona Maguire managed to secure 1531.37 points. On the other hand, the third position is held by Charley Hull from England.
Stephanie Meadow was remarkable throughout the 2011 season, winning a number of events. Currently based in Alabama, America, Meadow kicked off the season with confidence.
Her first victory for the year came when she won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
Meadow performed amazingly well at Puerto Rico, as she recorded a five-stroke victory. She started the final round with a nine-shot lead over her nearest rival.
Meadow's overall score in the final round was an impressive 3-under 69. Her remarkable performance in the last season highlights Meadow's strength.
Sharing his thoughts about Meadow's dazzling performance, Alabama coach Mic Potter said: “Stephanie was just awesome today. She was really solid and really steady”.
“I knew since the time she got on campus that she was going to be a missing link for us. She is a player that knows how to win tournaments," he added.
Forging ahead with consistency and hard work, Meadow added yet another victory to her profile when she won the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
Her performance in Europe was notable. She finished second in the Irish Open Stoke Play. In addition, she also bagged the second place in the International European Ladies’ Amateur.
Leona Maguire kicked off the 2011 season by clinching the title at the Portuguese Ladies' Amateur Open.
Moreover, a victory in the Irish Open Stroke Play also boosted the young star's ranking. Maguire was unstoppable and remained on the winning track throughout.
She grabbed attention yet again, as she recorded an amazing 6-shot victory in the British Ladies' Open Stroke Play. 
Third-ranked Charley Hull also remained impressive throughout the 2011 season. She performed well in the Welsh Ladies' Open Stroke Play, finishing first.
Pumped up by her last season’s wins, the English star has begun the 2012 season with confidence. She recently won the 57th Harder Hall Women's Invitational.
