Hi,

My friend who holds a UK visa is travelling to Belfast,Northern Ireland from London. He booked a ferry ticket and the route is from London to Dublin to Belfast. He has to change the bus at the Dublin city center (Busaras) for his onward journey to Belfast. Does he need an Irish transit visa when entering Ireland, the bus connection is just 30 mins from Dublin after he arrives in Dublin. Could someone please give any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

  1. Busaras is in Dublin city centre. No travel or transit visas are required. Get a taxi from the boat terminal to Busaras and connect with the Belfast bus. You won't even know you have crossed the border into N Ireland unless you notice the change in road signage. Also we here in the North accept any type of Sterling notes, unlike the English who only want their own. Don't forget in Dublin you will be in Euro land so if you spend money there (taxi) you will need Euro. Buses take both currencies

  2. find out from the bus company

  3. You don't say what his nationality is.

Contact the Irish Embassy or Consulate where you are and ask them.
