Irish winger Tommy Bowe is confident Ireland can beat the All Blacks
Irish winger Tommy is confident that Ireland have the ability to beat the All Blacks at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Saturday 20 November.
Ireland have never managed to beat the All Blacks in 23 attempts, dating back as far as 1905.
However, Bowe believes that Ireland can defeat the New Zealand when the two sides take to the field. "There's a definite confidence that we have the ability to beat them. Their record against us is why we're serious underdogs for this match once again, and
we know every player has to put everything on the line for 80 minutes."
New Zealand have impressed on tour this November, beating England 26-16 and thumping Scotland 49-3.
"There's a lot of excitement because New Zealand are playing some great rugby at the moment-it's a massive challenge for us," said Bowe.
The British and Irish Lion admitted that Ireland had increased their intensity in training to prepare for the All Blacks physicality at the break-down. "The intensity of training has stepped up a notch and we know that if we want to compete against these
boys we need to be at the top of our game."
Ireland have been disappointing in their matches in the Autumn Internationals. They lost their opening game 23-21 to South Africa and struggled to beat Samoa 20-10 last weekend.
Despite this, Bowe believes that if Ireland can compete with New Zealand’s intensity and improve they could cause an upset. "New Zealand like to play at a certain intensity and we must match that. We need to be at our best for 80 minutes and go up a level
and that's what we've been working on."
If Ireland manage to defeat the All Blacks, it will go down in history as their greatest ever win.
