Question:

Iron and Driver Drills?

I am a golfer who shoots between 90 and 100 during a round. I am trying to improve my iron shots. I am also working on driving the ball better ( I tend to slice). What are some good drills I can do on the range to work on my iron and driver shots?

  1. I hit ten balls with each club.

  2. I don’t agree with pro-DAVID, tips and fixes are hard to give without seeing your swing, but people can share what has worked for them.

Take all tips and fixes with a grain of salt, they are not a substitute for lessons.

Anyway, Driver drills; I was once told “its much easier to slow a swing down than to speed it up”. The gist is, when practicing on the range, people tend to swing easy and when they play they swing way too hard. The competition or pressure gets to them, and they tense up and try to do things they haven’t practiced. So, I really like this drill, I get warmed up, I try to kill 10 drives, just murder them, 110%, then I slow it down and hit 10 more a 80% really focusing on a target. This tends to really straighten me out. Also I have a better understanding of my miss when I try to swing too hard.

Irons are all about accuracy. Pick a target and the appropriate club. Line your self up, practice swing and hit. Repeat this 3 times than pick a different target and club. Try to execute a good pre-shot routine every time, for every ball you hit.

    Good luck!

  3. as a pro i could not give you any drills till saw your swing sorry. a slice can be caused by so many factors it would be wrong to say here
