Irregular bleeding.....HELP!?

About 3 months ago I started a new birth control pill. 6 days before my period was due I was spotting a little. Just a little pink then mostly brown. It was only present when wiping and occured in the morning and at night. I am supposed to start my period on Wednesday. Yet, I just went to the restroom and am bleeding. It is a dark red color. I have been under some stress due to family issues and returning to work. I still have one day of an active pill and then will start the iron pills on Wed.

What could be happening?

P.S. I take my pill at the same time everyday. I am really good about that. Also since starting a new pill my bf and I have been also using condoms for protection.

  1. Anytime you start a new birth control pill or switch to a new kind you're likely to disrupt your period.  It's perfectly normal and should correct itself within a few cycles.  The loestrin brand is intended to shorten your periods anyways so you need to give it some time to regulate itself.  If after a few cycles it's still causing breakthrough bleeding you may need to ask about switching again.

  2. birth control will make your periods VERY irregular
