Irritated former South Africa coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 calls Gibbs a loner
With almost daily radio interviews and public speaking engagements regarding his controversial autobiography, To the Point that, the out of favour opener of South Africa, Herschelle Gibbs' has become a bigger celebrity than he was while
playing for the Proteas as a star opener. And the book, revealing several under cover controversies of the South African cricket team and management, tops the lists in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The triumphant captain of South Africa, Graeme Smith is the main target of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gibbs-c60021 whom he has described as “simply too powerful”. Besides Smith, several other South African players - including all-rounder Jacques Kallis, wicketkeeper A B
de Villiers and Mark Boucher - and management officials also got a blow. Former South African coach Mickey Arthur is also one of those who have been criticized by Gibbs for the power setup under his tenure as Proteas’ coach from 2005-2010. Gibbs claimed that
the incumbent captain was given two much authority during Arthur's reign and that the coach himself had no powers.
Arthur strongly reacted to the claims of the flamboyant opener and said that he (Arthur) had no influence in the team, describing him as "somewhat of a loner".
"Hersch was a little bit of a loner. He sort of hung by himself. He never really mixed too freely with the rest of the group," said the former South African coach.
"He certainly didn't mix with Graeme at all and I guess there was a little barrier between the two there," added Arthur while talking to a sports website.
Arthur, who is currently coaching http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865, in a counterattack said that Gibbs would have had little idea of what was going on around him as he was out of the team most of the time.
"For the last three years of my time, Herschelle was in and out of the side. He wasn't there for most of the time," said Arthur.
Arthur said that the claimer is unaware of the conversations he had with Smith in private. The angry man further added that he has no idea of how to handle the player-management relationship “because he wasn't privy to any of that,” said
Arthur.
The autobiography of Gibbs, which has made him a celebrity, can also hit back at the flamboyant opener as Cricket South Africa has already sought legal advice on the book and the South African Cricket Players' Association is considering
the option on the behalf of players criticized by Gibbs in the book.
