it is what they used to call a third world country... the politically correct term is now developing...

A developing country is a country which has an undeveloped or developing industrial base, and an inconsistent varying Human Development Index (HDI) score and per capita income, but is in a phase of economic development.

developing is mainly an economic and distinction. i wouldn't use socio-economic because thats more about class within the country where this is dealing with between countries. But getting back to the point, developing means that their GDP (basically all that the country produces) is on the rise and their industry is increasing. There is a social factor, but look at china, their "developed" and yet they have many social issues, so as much as it sucks it doesn't factor in as much but economic prosperity usually helps the social scene as it poverty can cause social issues.
