  1. Generally, yes.  It depends on what audience you are writing for, however.  Many of the best writers of prose write the way they speak, making their writing very accessible to the reader.  However, business writing is for a different audience and is necessarily much more formalized.  

    The first poster makes a good point when she states that ideas that can be inferred with a facial expression or body language, must somehow be translated into a written format in order to portray *exactly* the same idea in a written conversation. You must be much more explicit in your written expression than you might need to be in a face-to-face conversation to ensure your thoughts are received the way you intended them to be.

  3. it definately is, it has to be. with speech you can easily portray emotion with your body language, with text it has to be shown with words, correctly strung together.
