Assuming that's me net income in Amsterdam. Will that be enough? With that, do I get to save as well?

  1. You know I spend a lot of time in Amsterdam, and you can do it pretty easily if you are willing to do a few things.  First, I would go to craigslist.com and find some shared apartment in the area you can afford.  I looked today, and there are lots of places that have one bedroom for rent right now for about  500 euros. Now that leaves you 600 euros a month, or about 30 euros, or $45 bucks a day to live on.  If you figure $20 tops for food, you still have another $25 for anything else.  So, if you're creative you can have a really good time, and afford it.

  2. I don't know where you live now but, in US dollars that would be about $1700 per month. The cost of living in Amsterdam is not cheap but, if you are alone, you could probably live on that. Depends on where you live and how you eat as well as your transportation. Many in Amsterdam ride bicycles. Play it conservative or become a roomie with someone else to share expenses and you should make it okay.

  3. In all honesty - no.

Rents / housing in Amsterdam is pretty expensive - unless you don`t mind a rathole of a place.

Also, the government is raising taxes like mad - so i would suggest you find a place to live outside of Amsterdam, within reach of public transport, or try and aim for a higher clean wage - around 1250 to 1300 , or more if you could.

  4. It depends on a number of things.  It is not a high net income but manageable depending on your lifestyle

If you intend to live normally, living in shared accomodation e.g. a bedroom in a shared house, rather than buying/renting your own flat, and this income is just for you (no family) then you can manage on this yes.

Tips like using a bike instead of a car/public transport, and shopping around in markets & different supermarkets will make the difference

Also it depends on your social life as well.  Gym memberships are quite expensive, as is drinking, eating out and smoking.  Amsterdam is not the cheapest place for this kind of thing.

So it really does depend.  If you live a normal lifestyle e.g. going out max 1 time a week and shopping in moderation, watching your money etc, then you will be able to live and also save (only a little) money each month.  If you want to live and party, or live the high life, then no this is not enough to get by on

  5. I'm sure it's not enough for pot.
