Just curious your thoughts at what point is a diamond too small, and at what point might it be too big (i.e. gaudy looking)

Thanks

  1. It Depend on the style! If you guys are in Love it shouldnt matter! Are you buying the engagement ring? Did you just recive a engagement ring?

  2. yeah that's a good size.. that's border line on too big.  the perfect size is 1 carat. anything bigger than that looks a little 'too big'.

  3. thats perfect!! mine is 1.62 and many times i feel its too big, but still i love it.

its all about what fits your budget, and personal preferances.

EDIT: all you haters who gave me thumbs down are Silly Billys. don't hate on what others have worked hard for because your circumstances are different!!!

  4. Can't tell from your name whether you're the giver or receiver, but no matter - if the couple truly loves each other the size of the diamond shouldn't matter.

  5. Gaudy.  It would only look at home on a Christmas tree.

  6. The size really shouldn't matter, it's more the LOVE behind the choice, design, configuration and presentation.

ps, if she is shallow enough to care about size, hrm.

Consider the 4 c's...  the attached link is not a recommendation, rather just for education.  Find a good local jeweler that  you trust.

  7. if two people love each other the size does not matter.

  8. If the ring was coming to me, it would be way too big.  First of all, I'm not big on diamonds.  Second of all, with a ring that size, and how much I do with my hands, I'd be afraid I'd damage the ring.

  9. Depening on the woman's finger size that may be too big.. usually 3/4 to 1 carat is plenty ...

  10. It depends on what the ring looks like, doesn't it? The biggest of stones can look awfully cheap, while a small, exquisitely made piece of jewelry can be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. Just look for the beauty, not the cash value.

  11. The real question should be...can he (or we)  afford this ring...

  12. It truly is best to consider how the ring will look on her

    finger.

If you haven't gone to try on rings I highly suggest it!

(I do realize that some men want to "surprise"

their lady with the ring, though).

As much as women love their diamonds...

(The size of a women's finger does come into play).

Finances are a big consideration when choosing a ring.

Go with the size and proportion of her hand...

    you can't go wrong!

  13. Buy what you like.

If your only concern is the size, then she's not the girl for you.

Find someone who doesn't make you feel like you have to prove your love materialistically.

  14. It is a nice size, but what is the quality of the ring? My ring center stone is a carat, but it is E color and good clarity. FI could have went larger, but I like that he went quality over quantity.

  15. i think thats plenty big enough

  16. Too big for my likes.....

I got a .86 carat diamond, and I thought it was huge!

Gotta take into consideration the girl's hand/finger size....

My friend got herself (with her fianceé's permision) a 2 carat diamond solitaire, and honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd think it was fake....

    I don't like it....

I'd say go for what your budget allows....(Don't follow that two/three month "rule" unless you've already saved up that money)
