  1. Mine is 5.0MBps and I would like it faster.

It can never be fast enough.

But yours is a very nice speed and you should be happy with it.

Is that the "advertised" speed?  See what it really is:  http://www.speedtest.net

  2. For email and IM, it's way more then enough.  What are you using it for?

  3. Yes..

1.5MBps was incredibly fast until a couple of years ago.. These days it's at the low end of the broadband speed range, but there's nothing wrong with that speed, it'll be fast enough if all you are doing is surfing the web. People want higher download speeds these days because they want to download stuff like music.. Still.. 1.5 Mbps isn't a bad speed for that either!

  4. It depends what you're using it for, and what you're expecting to get out of it.

For example, I have a 20MBps download connection. I get most of it when I use the computer directly connected to the mode. But the computer I use most often (2 floors down in the basement) doesn't get a very good connection with the router, and I get 5MBps at most (usually a lot less) with it.

If you get the FULL 1.5MBps, I'm sure you'll find it's very fast. But usually you don't get the full speed, only a part of it.

Regardless, for IM/E-Mail/Gaming, it should be fine. The difficult part is when you're trying to stream high-quality movies or the such online. That's when the connection really matters.

  5. Well mine is about 800KBPS at best, and I get by easily with online gaming and on the Xbox.

  6. I would have to say yes.  Living in the country, I am only able to achieve that speed over our WirelessBroadband connection.  It  has proven to be fast enough.  However, if you are planning on having more than one computer connected to the network while someone is playing a game online (such as one involving XBoxLive or Nintendo WFC), then I would suggest getting a faster speed, because while I have been playing MarioKart Wii with my brother playing GTA 4 on the 360, while my mom is doing email, it has been slow, though it still worked.  Another reason to get a faster connection would be if you plan on downloading LARGE files.  1.5 MBPS would be about 192 kilobytes per second.  So a 100 Megabyte file would download in about 9 minutes.  In summary, if you don't need to download HUGE files or have a lot of devices accessing the connection at the same time, then 1.5 Mbps is just fast enough.
