  1. 1Mbps is currently the "lite" version for the company I get my internet service for. For the casual family, its all that you will need. I myself am constantly downloading and uploading large amounts of information so I get a 15Mbps line for me. For most people though, 1Mbps will suffice.

If all your doing is surfing the net and do the casual download, you probably wont notice a big difference between work and home.

  3. It depends on where you are and what choices you have. I would kill for 1Mb/s broadband as I'm currently stuck with 256Kb/s midband.

  4. 1 Mbps is pretty good.  That's about what I have, and I can stream HD video... so yeah, should work fine.

  5. 1Mbps is excellent, good for streaming media such as viewing youtube videos and music (able to watch/listen as it loads...etc)

256Kbps is still pretty good for general internet such as browsing html, using email, etc.

At home 512Kpbs is your intermediate between good and excellent speed.

At work, depends on how many people in a building, how many people require access to the Internet etc.

Usually its greater than 1 Gbps.

  6. 1 Mbps is good enough for net surfing, checking of emails, and other activities which does not require big amount of speed and memory to run on your hard disk. But I would say that it may affect the overall download speed from the internet.

Personally, I would say that 3Mbps would be just nice.

  7. 1 meg is about what you would expect from a dial up connection
