My husband and I are training for a marathon in October, we reached 12 miles on our training plan. We usually take it easy on our long runs- but we ran it in about 1 hr and 45 min. give or take a few. Is this really slow? If we run this pace at the marathon, will everyone finish before us?

  1. Some probably will finish before you, but you two are doing GREAT as far as I can see. Marathon is 26 miles and a few yards, so you are at about 3 and 3/4 hours for the race if you can hold that speed. Check and see what the winning time was last year or the last time it was run and figure accordingly. Try building the abdominal muscles, exercise them as much as possible. You might get a little more from them.

  2. Having completed 3 Los Angeles marathons by walking (my best time being 6 hours), I can say there will still be plenty of people behind you. I finished in something like 13,000 place out of 20,000 starters. What I can't understand is how some of the people that finished about the time I did were running like they had plenty of energy. They should have finished hours before me with that kind of pep! Good luck!
