I am a stay at home Mother of a 2 yr old. I have a lady that would like me to babysit for her 2nd shift. Her boy's are 4 and 12. She would be dropping off her 4 yr old at 2pm,her 12 yr old would be here after school at 4pm. I would be feeding them dinner she will pick them up a little after 11pm.

  1. Are you thinking about asking her for $100 a week?  If that's what you want that's good, I personally would charge more but if you are happy with $100 that's great and not too much

  2. thats what i charge

  3. Think about it this way.  For just the 4 year old, you will be watching him from 2-11 (that's 9 hours), 5 days a week.  45 hours per week.  She would be paying you slightly over 2 dollars per hour for the 4 year old.  (If you have to pay for dinner, that cuts into the profits).  If you think that's enough, then go for it.  I'd say it's definitley not TOO MUCH.

  4. well average price when i babysit is $6-7/hour. so say its about 8 hours then that's about $50 A DAY --> $350 a week! but of course, everything is creaper in bulk....$350 is ridiculous. so no, it's not too much.

  5. that sound ok, but i would ask for more!

  6. 100 dollars a week too much?!?! are you kidding me, you should receive more then that, hun. you are being generous for doing that.

  7. For 2nd shift I think that you are asking a reasonable amount.  This also depends are where sisters are in your area as far as cost, if you aren't licensed to care for children than you really shouldn't charge more than they are charging.  Also there is alot of risk to watching children in your own home without a license

  8. I think the amount is probably a little less than the job is worth. Jeez, though, picking them up at 11:00 at night. Their sleep is going to be so disrupted. I know people have to do what they have to do but surely there is a better way.

  9. You never said how many days a week so I will figure m-f you get a 100.00 for the week.   from 2 to 11pm, thats 9 hours, five day a week totals 45 hours.  Divide 100 by 45 and roughly for two kids you are making, 2.22 an hour.

    That is really Bad.

I do daycare and I charge if it more than 5 hours a day 30.00 a day.  Which for 5 days would total 150.00 That is the going weekly rate in most day cares.

You are giving her a great deal that she would probably not be able to get anywhere else.  Good Luck to you.

  10. i think the 12 year old can him/herself except for you making dinner so you are basically watching only the 4 year old

babysitting prices hes rose but if you uncomfortable with too much i would ask for 125 to 175 or less if you dont feel comfortable asking for too much

see what she thinks and what you think is reasonable and find a compromise

  11. that's not enough

  12. she would be paying about 300 a week if she went to a center. for my 4 y/o i payed about 180 a week. so i think you are being very generous charging only 100..

  13. The 4 year old would be there 9 hours a day, 5 days a week.  Or 45 hours a week.

The 12 year old would be there 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week.

Just looking at the 4 year old, that's 45 hours plus dinner, approximately $2/hr., I would think that $100, in most areas, would be pretty reasonable.  Add the 12 year old, who should be able to pretty much take care of himself, but still requires some attention, I think it's a descent amount.

  14. No, this is a good amount, and maybe even a little bit more due to the hours.

  15. No way!! That is not too much, I pay way more for after school care. I mean really if you think about it feeding two young boys dinner 5 nights a week will probably cost you at least half that in grocery's alone. You are being very generous.
