Im looking at buying a cheap dirtbike to mess around on, and theres a guy selling a '82 YZ125 for $100. It runs, but he says it needs a clutch basket, pressure plate, and steering head bearings. I'm pretty good with my hands, but don't know if it will be very hard to do, expensive, or hard to find the parts for such an old bike. Can anyone tell me if it would be worth my while, or to pass on this one?

  1. you should be able to find the parts [around $200] easy to fix

if it runs it is worth the the $100

  2. Parts could be very hard to find.

  3. the scrap metal alone is probably worth that.

  4. Try motosport.com or denniskirk.com

  5. Buy it. Parts are hard to find, but if you call Hinson, Wiseco, Or even a yamaha parts site, you will verry likely find what you are looking for. Your looking at about 250-300 in repairs. But the bike itself can probably be scrap metaled for 100 so i would go with it. You cant go wrong, worse things worse you just sell it to a junk yard for scrap.
