Is 1000 PMPO loud?

Is 1000 watts PMPO loud, and a 20 watt RMS loud??

PMPO is a meaningless figure for which there is no agreed method of measuring and no reputable manufacturer uses it.

20W continuous power IS loud, but most domestic systems wouldn't be run that loud anyway.  

For listening to music in a domestic environment, the advantage of high power is that the equipment can more faithfully reproduce instantaneous, short, power peaks without clipping (a form of distortion).  

It depends on what sort of music you listen to and one or two other factors too.
