  1. it depends on what type of program u r watching.

1080i has a higher resolution(more pixels) and is more sharp and clear.

720p has a higher frame rate but lesser resolution so it is smoother for fast paced programs such as sports.

my tv sports bith 1080i and 720p but i chose to keep it on 1080i at all times. i think 1080 is better overall, the frame rate is good enough for me.

  2. Generally, no.

I saw recommendations from (I think) BBC to, when choosing between 1080i and 720p, use 720p for HDTV programming wherever possible.

The arguments are complex, but despite the higher (and therefore superior sounding) number 1080i is ususally associated with more scaling (and deinterlacing) and therefore an inferior picture.

About the only place 1080i is better is if the input signal for a 1080p HDTV that has "proper" deinterlacing (anly about half of 1080p HDTVs deinterlace properly)... and even then only when there is little fast motion.

  3. Most definately.  I am getting ready to buy my first Plasma and my choice after reviews from the pros and customers who have purchased a new  1081 Plasma or LCD  is Panasonic.. The color is unbelievable and no matter what you hear about burn ins with Plasmas don't believe it all.

If you take care of it, it will give you 60-100 thousand hours of viewing.. Check them out... I have found that Sears has had the lowest prices this past week.. They had the 42 inch  Pz80u for 1199.99 this past week.  Circut City will match this price.   good luck buying...
