I'm 11 years old and I'm going 2 be 12 this March.

I've been skating for 8 months now. I'm in Freestyle 1 but I can do everythinf in FS2 except for the sit spin. I can do toe loops, half lutz, salchow, waltzes, half flips and the ballet jumps pretty flawlessly (in good days). I can do chinese spirals, one o'clocks, ina bauer and the spreak eagles thoroughly. I skate 3-4 days a week and 1-2 hours a day. I have a private coach. Im kind of flexible and I've been preforming (dance & drama) since I was 7. I did ballet for 3 months. So is 11 years old too late?

  1. Hey, if you do that much performing arts, don't quit figure skating! You just haven't hit your peak yet. I mean, true, most pros start figure skating  when they're 2 or something, but they're just special and really talented. (Maybe lucky too)

11 years old is not late for skating. Now if you're 17 or older, that's a different story. (No offense to anyone who is 17 or older!... Sorry!)

If your parents really approve of you performing and figure skating, and they support you, use it! Use their support and get good at it. You wouldn't believe how many people out there are really talented at something, but their parents don't want them doing that thing. It sounds like your parents are okay with you performing. That's good!

    Hope that helps!

  2. to late for what???   im 13 and im on a dance taem...yes im in level 19 ballet and on point so...11 is not too young

  3. If you wanna be professional, that is late at age 11yrs.

    Try it as a Re-creation.

  4. no way. I am 11 and will be 12 in july i have been skating for about a year and i am just now learning my sit spin so i am at about the same level as you.

ps my couch said i will be working on my axel in a year so you probably will be working on it in a year too.

  5. too late for what?

    to be a figure skater?

its never to late to be a figure skater. I know everyone says that.. but there are adults in there 50s and 60s who start figure skating. I started when I was 12. (im now 13) older than you..

if you mean too late for like, the olympics, probably but anythings possible.

  6. I Take It You do IceSkating

    Same

    No Its Never Too Late

Im 13 And Working On double Axels And Ive Been Doing Figure 3yrs.

    Never Give Up

    When Practising A Sit Spin

    Go Into It Low

Bring The leg In Front And Pull It Round fast

trying New Things is more effective If You Try It In Small doses Every Time You Practise.

Instead of Doing Loads on A sit Spin And Ruining It Try Doing 10 Really Good Sits Every Practise And Slowly It Will Come!

    Have Paitence With It

    Good Luck

If You Could Help with My Q Would be Very Grateful!

I Need Help On How I Should Structure My Ice practise Sessions!

  7. too late for what?

if you are good i should think you arent too old to compete.

  8. You sound like you are on the right track.  Skaters can begin at any age, and do very well their whole careers.

You appear to have a wonderful routine in place and it sounds as though you are doing very well for only skating for eight months.

  9. h**l no! you're way YOUNG to know all that stuff. Sounds like you're a great skater!

I skated for about 2 years with a coach (6 without), and I didn't learn 1/2 that stuff... sounds like you're on the right track!

  10. What are your goals? It is never too late for anything, but what are you wanting to know if it's too late for? You can certainly compete in figure skating even though you may not be an Olympic skater. Good luck!

  11. no ur not to late. i'm 13 and i'm only in FS6!! well really Pre-Pre but still! i mean ur not going to Olypmic but i mean who is!one or 2 girls! so no ur not to late!!!

  12. depends if you are doing it for fun or to compete locally then no. But if you are trying to compete world wide and make it big then I think it will be to late. But that's just what I think if you are really good and try hard you could make it. Good Luck

  13. Not at all I started at 12 and I am 13 now. ALot of 20 year olds atrt skating for thier first time.

  14. wait......

a full flip is in freestyle 2, so is pretty much every hard single jump. i dont really think you are ready for freestyle 2. talk to your coach. just focus on freestyle 1 right now. but it is not too late if you are this far in skating. i am a little bit younger than you and can do harder jumps so really work on them and you might hace a chance at the olympics!!!!!!

  15. too late for wat? i'm about 12 and i can do more than you but i'm sure you can catch up. but 11 is still a good time for figure skating
