  1. No way!  I started when I was 12 and I'm still skating....many years later.  You're never too old to learn to skate!  Even started "late" at 12, I have done plenty of competitions, shows and done tons of cool things that I probably wouldn't have done if I weren't involved in skating.  :)

  2. No.

  3. You can certainly begin to learn to skate at age 12, you may not be the next Olympic champion, but you can certainly learn, and do some competition. Good luck!

  4. no its not to late. if u could afford and work hard like 4 hours a day and off ice and fine 4 u to be homeschooled cuz skating takes up alot of time. im 13 and my dream is the 2014 olympics. im going to skate around 4 hours a day and 1 hour off ice too.a 1 hour private lesson everyday. i could skate that much and ive tried it before.its not that hard for me cuz i love the sport alot and very passionate and my family could afford so u have to have alot support from your family so good luck .

  5. I started skating when I was over double your age (mid 20's)!!  I learned to jump and spin and go beyond what I thought I could ever do . . . including competing!!  I know others who started skating even way later than me!  So no, 12 is definitely not too old to learn to skate!!!

    :)

  6. No, 12 is not too old to learn and if your goal is to be at competitive level, you have to work really hard at learning.  Interview coaches, check their credentials, watch how they are with other kids, take an intital lesson with coaches you've chosen and hire the best that suits your style & budget.

You must be prepared to spend at least 2-hrs/day on ice plus 30-min warm-up and another 30-min for cool down.  You also have to take ballet lessons for flexibility & posture.

Skating is one of the most expensive sports there is so before you dive in, you must first figure out if this is really what you want to do.  Do you have the money, the body, the endurance, the passion, the musicality?  Technique can be learned but musicality cannot.

Also make sure you take your Moves-in-the-Field lessons along with your freestyle or ice-dance lessons.  MIF is basic for good edges.

  7. Its never too late to learn something new.

  8. I have counted and have answered this question 12 times!!! You are never to old to learn to figure skate!!! Many girls are skating at 16 and older!! this lady is in her 60s and love figure skating!! She can do waltz jumps and sins too. You can compete in shows and competitions. you donot have to be 3 like all the other girls you can get as far as doubles by the time your like 14 or 15!!! I started when i was around ten or eleven and now im 12, 13 in may and am workin on my axel!!!! So go for it have fun competing and skating!!!!!!! :D

  9. its never to old to skate. just skate for fun. not cause people force you to

  10. no! 12 is not too old i know a woman who is 51 and she has her axel already that goes to show that you can do the sport and not mind the age

  11. If u  start to learn skating in 12 years, then i`m afraid u`ll need a huge talent to become a professional, but it`s possible with a good  coach. If u want to do it just for fun, then of course yes, it`s possible. I personally started to skate when i was 13.

  12. No, but it wont be a practice, just an experience .

Professional hopeful skate ability starts at age 3yrs.

  13. not really i started when I was 11 1/2

im sure you can make it if you are really determined!

    good luck :)

  14. It probably is if you want to do it proffesionally but if you want to just do it for fun then no way
