I took figure skating when I was 10 but I stopped. I've taken ballet the last 2 years.

  1. No way!! I'm 18 and i've just started. I love it more than anything!!!! I've only had 6 lessons, but i have really improved. I can now spin, jump, and do crossovers!

    Have fun skating!!

  2. no i started at 12, a few months later i was competing.

  3. Ballet is an amazing help especially if you want to figure skate. I'm 14 and i used to take ballet for 7 years. I quit when i was on the 6th grade, and i was about 11. Although i took up figure skating this year and i taught myself, no lessons whatsoever. I taught myself forwards and backwards crossovers, one-foot spin, two-foot spin, spirals, and now i'm working on my jumping. I just signed up for real lessons 3 weeks ago and i bumped up to the highest level of the figure skating class ( even higher than my friends who have been skating for three years). You will be fine!

  4. 12 is not to late to start. Plus ballet will help with your posture and make you even better. :-)

  5. NO WAY! I started around 12 and now I'm learning Axel. If you really love it, it'll be surprising how easy it'll come to you.

  6. It's never ever too late to start anything, do you want to learn figure-skating for fun, or do you eventually want to compete with other figure-skaters in the world? (like on the WC, which were just held in Sweden)

If you want to skate on a competitive level, you have to be really talented, you'll have to have a lot of free time to practice hard, and also some money to be able to pay for a personal trainer.

12 IS a bit old to start figure-skating, but hey, it is proved one CAN achieve a lot on competitive level despite starting late, so I'd say: "Go for it, and good luck!!"

  7. its never too late. i skipped out on ballet for a couple years and now started back up and happy to say im on pointe.  all you need to worry about is the effort and perservearance (sp XD) you put in

    good luck

  8. No, i didnt begin til i was 21 and i love it.

  9. It's definatly not too late to start!  I'm sure those ballet classes improved your flexibility and coordination so you should be great in figure skating.  Good Luck!!:)

P.S. I'm 13 and I'm starting ballet in the fall and thats not even too late!!

  10. Absolutely not, Johnny Weir began at 12, look at him now. Remember it is NEVER too late to learn anything. You need passion, desire, and determination. If that is what you really want, GO FOR IT, you never know.

  11. No, it's never too old to start figure skating.
