I have been to our pet shop to look at the hamsters and the Syrian they have is 12 weeks. is this too old to be buying or will it be fine. The only reason i ask such a silly question is the other breeds of hamsters they have were all 6 weeks old.

  1. no because my hamster is2 and hes still not old

  2. No, that's fine.

I work in a pet shop, and we sell Syrians at about 10-12 weeks of age, and never had an issue with it.

Of course it's not too old- they live for two or more years and 12 weeks is only about three months, maximum. The other ones are younger because they're a smaller breed and therefore reach puberty/selling age at a YOUNGER age than bigger Syrians, who live longer.

  3. no it should be okay

  4. 12 weeks isn't too old!! its still a baby, and given that it is older, you'll be doing it a favour by buying it, because little kids will probably wnt the smller ones. The good thing is that you know its hardier. Many hamsters die early on, this one has made it twice as long as the others so far!!
