Is 122 IQ good for an 18 year old?

Intelligence is all around general ability.The tests measures what it thinks you should know.Ask me about the American War of Independence and I can tell you some information.I visited Valley Forge , saw the Liberty Bell and know about the Boston Tea Party. Now, if I asked you on an intelligence test abour Burma Road Riot, a hutia or a sapodilla would you know the answer?Many of the questions on an IQ Test are irrelevant to me because it was not designed with me in mind.Thus, if I score 122 - although I do not know where Mount Rushmore is located,I have done well.Based on the definition in the opening sentence, it should increase as daily living provides insights from which all can benefit.

Yes, it's a few points away from being considered "gifted". And it should stay about the same. The tests measure your intelligence, not your knowledge.

It must be said that the IQ tests are very contentious.

But, according to the established method, the result of 122 means that the person is 22% above the average of his/her peers (i.e. other 18 year-olds from the same cultural and environmental background).  

The "average" is, obviously, marked by the number 100.

And yes, intelligence does vary.

Acquiring knowledge, while a very good thing in itself, has nothing to do with it. But there are activities that can increase one's cognitive capabilities: logical puzzles, learning languages, even playing music (especially the piano).

Stress, on the other hand,  can have a severe negative effect on the intelligence (especially over time, which is why it often shows in older people).
