  1. 12 pm is during the day and 12am is midnight.

  2. "PM" is post meridian, and meridian is NOON

  3. Trying to get as logical as possible -

    Midnight is 00.00 (11.59 pm, 00.00am, 00.01 am)

Noon is 11.59 am, 12.00 Noon, 12.01 pm)

Technically there isn't a 12pm, or a 12am. Mid-day is 12 Noon, Mid-night is Midnight. 12.00 Mid-day is neither AM (before meridian) nor PM (post meridian), it is "the" M.

    Hope this helped?

  4. PM is for afternoon

    AM is for morning

  5. afternoon - once you get to 11.59am it goes to 12pm then 12.01pm etc

  6. Its midday but 12 pm. Noon only last for about a second. once the second goes by and it turns to 12:00:01 pm, it is no longer noon, it is now afternoon. :-) and it is lunch time and 12: am is at night

  7. 12 pm means Noon- lunchtime

    12 AM is Midnight.

  8. There is, as others have noted, no such time as 12am or 12pm.  Midday is 12 noon, and midnight is 12 midnight.

There is a convention for western calendars that 12 midnight is labelled 12am, and 12 noon labelled 12 pm. Logically, there is no reason for this, as the exact opposite convention has equal justification. It is, after all, a bit like trying to describe a five pound note as either (i) less than £5 or (ii) greater than £5 ; neither category fits, because it's exact, not smaller or greater. 12 noon is the same ; it is not before the meridian or after it, it is when the sun is exactly on it.

Therefore, to avoid confusion (and to be smarter than the average clock-watcher), just make it a point  to use 'noon' and 'midnight'.
