I have 2 years experience as a preschool teacher. I just finished a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in elementary education. I have 18 Early Childhood Education units. I have worked at three preschools, and even as a lead teacher I only made up to $11.50/hr. Now that I have completed my Bachelor's Degree, is it reasonable to ask for $13/hr? I have an interview this week! Any suggestions on how to negotiate?

  1. 13 dollars for a preschool teacher? That does not sound reasonable..

  2. $13 an hour works out to be $27,500 a year based on 40 hour weeks, 52 weeks a year.  Certified teachers work approximately 36 weeks a year, not 52.  You should get more than $13 and benefits !!!

  3. I agree with gpajak22. I worked full-time at a private school as a teacher's aide in a preschool class. I did/do have my degree, and was paid $15 an hour before taxes.

  4. With a BA? LORD NO.
