(Also, to all those people that answered my last question - thank you SO much aand I apologise for stuffing it up by accidentaly phrasing it "Am i too YOUNG")

  1. Not too late! I started ballet at sixteen, he he. And I think I've done pretty well for starting at a late age. I also did gymnastics, I wanted to give it up but keep doing something similar and I had the flexibility and strength from gymnastics so dance became my passion. Gymnastics definitely gives you a starting point. If you've been doing other styles of dance then even better! I find ballet to be the best style for improving technique, awareness of your body as a dancer and grace! As mentioned before, just work hard, don't give up. People will be ahead of you, accept that and just work, work, work! Good luck!

  2. okay! whatever you do DO NOT i repeat DO NOT listen to Wafa B.

you can start ballet at ANY age!

my friend started at 3 years old and i started at 10 and i'm in 2 higher classes then her!!!

    GO FOR IT!!!

  3. No it's not too old, If you say too old then maybe the age of 30 ^D^.. If your doing gymnastics then your body is flexible and so ready for ballet.

  4. No, definately not! Here are some tips to keep you going!

    * Don't give up. If you feel something's too hard, just try your best.

    * Practice. Every dancer will tell you this. The more you practice, the more technique and experience you will get.

    * Come to all of your dance lessons. Don't miss a single one!

    * Work your backside off in your lessons. You won't regret it!

    * Take as many lessons as you can. The more the better, but it's OK if you can only do one class.

    * If you're allowed to do more than one class, these will help:

Acrobatics/gymnastics. It's always good if you can do a trick or two.

Classical Ballet. It helps with all styles of dance.

Pilates/yoga. They also help with technique and flexibility.

    * Be healthy. If you're healthy, you'll be a good dancer, and I'm not talking about the technique.

    * Listen to any advice or tips any dancers have to give you.

Don't worry, you're never too old. Trust me.

I've seen a guy on a dance TV show, not SYTYCD, who impressed me by saying he only started dancing a year ago! He was about 30.

And also 30 year old ladies do classical lessons and they're good!

But also remember the world of dance is a tough one.

Are you sure you want to spend your life with it?

Dancing is hard and you don't get paid much for it.

Maybe you should just do the lessons and practice, then get a job and if you see any auditions for dance shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, give it a go!

But it's all your choice so do whatever you like.

Hope I helped and good luck, welcome to the world of dance!

  5. No, I know people who started dancing when they were 20. Just don't expect to be in the same class with girls your age who have been dancing since preschool.  Also, your experience with gymnastics will help you with ballet.

  6. I don't think it's absolutely too old. Just work harder to catch up with girls who started younger. My room mate began at age four.

  7. No way girl!! Go for it!! Good luck!!! =)

  8. no way!!

  9. I believe if the other forms of dance include jazz, lyrical, or some form of dance where you are taught techniques of pirouettes, pas de bourrees, and jetes you definitely will be up to speed. A lot of studios have teen beginner or intermediate classes to help those your age that are fresh beginners or some experience. Also if you do gymnastics a lot of your floor techniques may be similar. I say go for it!

  10. Not at all!

  11. Of course not! age doesnt matter! ladies start dancing when they are old! do it if you want to!

  12. Hi! i'm 14 and i've been doing jazz since i could walk, started hip hop at the age of 10. i only started ballet last year, and within 6 months, i was on pointe and i am working my way to my student teachers exam.

you have had alot more of a background then me, so you should go on ahead and restart your ballet classes. its never too late!!! :]

  13. Yes, 13 is WAY too old. Heck, even 11 is considered old! stick to the other forms of dance you know.
