  1. my friend started ice skating this year (we're 13), and it doesn't seem to affect her ability. I keep suggesting to her that she take ballet on the side so that she is a little more flexible. Maybe you should try that! =)

  2. nope

  3. no way! you can as flexible as you want as long as you stretch enough!

  4. i would think it depends on what your overall intentions are. if you're looking to Olympics or extreme competition, i think 13 is a little too late. however, if you're going to do it for personal enjoyment, and aren't going to push yourself too hard, i don't see a problem.

i do have to say that i have no personal experience in skating, this is just personal opinion.

in the end though, your best chance is to meet with a professional who can help you make a smart and reasonable choice.

  5. No, you can start when ever, the younger the better though. The first time i skated i was 4.

  6. Speaking strictly about flexibility: No.

It will, however, take lots and lots of stretching and dedication, more so if you aren't lucky enough to be naturally flexible.

I was lucky enough to be pretty naturally flexible, but I still stretch EVERY DAY!!! You might have to do alotta work.

However there is nothing more gratifying than knowing your spiral is in the full splits, and your head can touch your butt in a Biellmann.

  7. no way =]
