Question:

Is 14 years old to late to start trianing to be an olympic swimmer?

I have been swimmer for a couple of years not alot of lessons or help and i have never been on a team but i have always loved swimming an i have just never got a chance to do that but i feel i will try my hardest if it is not to late i know that alot of olympic swimmers start out really young just asking for your opinion thanks

  2. no! i met 2 siblings at a swim camp once that didn't start swimming until high school and i'm not sure if they made it to the olympics but i know they made it to trials.

    of course it does help to start young, but its not impossible.

  3. It CAN BE DONE. John Naber starting swimming at age 14. He got a lot of grief about starting "too late." The criticism mainly came from swimmers his own age that were burning out on the sport. He went on to win 4 golds in the 1976 Games at age 20.

    Find a good coach and get going!

  5. Why not? You'll never know just how good you can be unless you give it a shot.  You'll want to try all the different strokes since you may excel in one and not another. Good luck.
