  1. 14 hands and lower is a pony. 15 hands and up is a horse. 15.3 is a medium sized horse thats not too big or too small. Its the next hand higher then a large pony.

  2. It depends on how tall you are.  If you are 5'1" then this horse would appear to be very tall.  If you are 6'3" then this horse would not be tall to you.

  3. not rely

  4. 15.3 hands is a little on the smaller size in my opinion, I ride a 16.1 horse and I'm 5.4 and it feels perfect.

  5. that would be a med size horse.

  6. It all depends on the person. Different people have different ideas of what construes big. I would advise you to go to a riding school and ask if you can have a look around to get an idea of size.

  7. No that is not that tall, it's a little bigger than average (15HH).

  8. 15.3 is kinda big, It feels big to me when im rideing taht big of a horse but then again my horse is 14.3 Hands. A good height to stick with is 15 hands- 15.3 hands if you want a mediam sized horse

  9. Thats about right for a meduim size horse so your doin good to stay in the 15.3 to 15.7 hands

  10. Well depending on what height you are.

People may say to you well 15 hands is medium which it is.

like i have a 16 hand horse and since im on the small size its basically too big for me. Thats why i have another horse which is 14 hands. Also consider your weight. if your light than it doesnt matter. But make sure the horse is stocky if your not. Hope this helps.

  11. not at all. 15.3 is smallish but medium i guess depending on how tall you are. not big.

  12. No.  Thats actually a very small horse.  LOL.

  13. I would say a medium sized horse would be in the 15-16 hand range :)

  14. Kinda.. 15.0hh is average. But it really depends on the breed.

  15. It depends on the breed.  15.3 would be medium to smaller-sized for a Thoroughbred, but large for a Quarter Horse and huge for an Arabian, for example.  So really, it depends on what you are comparing it to.

  16. Nope. Horses considered tall are more like 16-18 hands.

  17. No. 16.2 and up is pretty tall, at least for me. Wait...I saw one of your other questions. If I recall, your a beginner? BEGINNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE HORSES!!!!!!! Beginners don't have the knowledge or experience for horse ownership. DO NOT buy a horse. Take lessons, and after at least 2 years and a TRAINER'S RECCOMENDATION, get a horse. You AREN'T ready. Please, for the horses sake, DON'T BUY ONE.

  18. 15.3 is a pretty average size.  I am 5'4 and most 15.3 horses "fit" me perfectly.  They are just the right height to not be too small, yet are still short enough to reach and handle easily.

  19. no its pretty much a moderate sized horse.. if you want a generally medium sized horse thats really a pretty good size.

  20. 15.3 is medium sized.

  21. its kinda tall, but i would consider a medium horse around 15-15.2, but ya 15.3 is a good size 4 a horse:):)

  22. Not to be a smarty, but, it depends on what part of the country you're from, do you ride western or english?  Do you ride a horse as part of your job? (buckaroo)?  Or police officer?

Many of the Quarter Horses used on a ranch can be between 15.1 and 16 hands; these horses are used for riding fence, which can encompass many sections and miles of fence line, moving cattle, and roping cattle..the smaller Quarter Horses are the cutters.  14.2, 14.3 hands.

If you're on the east coast or in an area favoring english style riding, you'll find horses that are much taller than their western bretheren.

No doubt 16 hands is "short" for these horses..16.2 hands 17.2 hand and some are taller than that....

The police favor taller horses as do three day eventers, dressage, and the hunter jumper crowd.

So, a medium sized horse....will be one that you're comfortable with heightwise....15.2 hands possibly.

  23. 15.3 or 16 is actually probably the perfect size.  Anything taller might be too tall if you're uncomfortabel with a taller horse.
