I'm 15 and I've already posted a few similar questions. But, am I too old to begin diving? I honestly have never dove before, I get the basics but I haven't actually had classes or anything. I know those olympic divers have like 7 years of experiece, but would it be at all possible to get into the 2012 or 2016 olympics? How to I find classes? I just feel I'm too old and it's not worth it.

  1. You are way too old. You have to start out at an early age, like 5, 6,7. I'm thirteen and I dive in precompetitive and I've started one year ago. Say astalavista to your Olympic dreams!!!

  2. You are only 15!!!

Of course it's possible. There's a pole vaulter in the olympics this year who only had 4yrs of experience.

  3. Start??? you mean you know nothing of gymnastic???

if yes, it's too late, because first you should start gymnastic and 15 is late for gymnastic.

    if no, I don't think it's late.

  4. uh well that is sort of old but you wouldn't be that old if you did the 2016 olympics and you would have more experience. but let me tell ya its harder work than you think ive experienced it!!!

  5. that last line looks like you are giving up before you start.  it will take a lot of training that kind of defeated attitude could work against you.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.  Hopefully I am, I wish you well, work on believing in yourself.  You can do it, But it takes a lot of work.

Confidence, determination, passion, dedication, heart is very important in reaching a goal that high.

    It'll be hard without it.

Finding classes I'd do research online.  You can find anything online if you try, don' t forget your zip code, or you'll be finding classes from all over, that wouldn't be fun to sift through. :)

Do If you feel you have the "Right Stuff" go for it.

And I wish you the best of future.  :)

  6. I don't think it is, but you have to be really good to get in the Olympics. You have to stick it almost everytime!

  7. I'm in the exact same boat, but I'm 19!! (yikes! lol)

I know that it's what I want and I've decided that I'm going to London or Madrid/Chicago and that's that.

Nobody's going to tell me that I can't and you should have the same attitude if you truly want it. If you can't find the fire and self-confidence within you now, then maybe I'd reconsider.

But otherwise I'd say NO, you are not too young. The point of the Olympics is not for professional athletes to just get sponsored and easy-peasy fly to some city and jump into a pool (although that's what it may seem).

The point of the Olympics was/is for amateur athletes to compete in a sport they are passionate about with the same individuals from other countries.

Did you see the Samsung commercial where it showed the President of the Olympic Committee saying "I call upon the youth of the world"?

He meant that or he wouldn't have said it lol.

I'm still a youth so...I'm gonna answer the call! haha

Good luck and maybe we'll be competing against each other, or even end up as synchro partners haha.

(here's the commercial, just replace Beijing with London lol:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5PGRWxJj...
