  1. Nope! I don't think so. Quick Breakdown - Average Lifestyle

    House Rent - 7,000

Car Installment + Petrol - 1,250 (You WILL need a car here)

    Internet/Phone/Electricity/Water/TV - 1,250

    Kid School Fees - 1,500

    Groceries - 2,500

    Househelp - 500

    Weekend Entertainment - 1,500

+ Anything else you can think of like clothes, shoes, books, music, partying etc.

Dubai unfortunately has become extremely expensive!

School fees for a 5 year old is about 2,500 and for a 12 year old is 3,500!

When you have 2 kids, you will have to pick your fave and send him/her to school! :-)

The house rent is only for a 1 Bedroom Hall Kitchen House. This will also keep going up 10% + every year.

Inflation here is about 12% - so budget an increase of 15% to these costs every year.

Of course, there are no taxes, but then again, there are no retirals or other benefits mandated by the government either. That is, no forced savings by the govt.. So 5 years later you are left only with pretty much what you have saved yourself.

The Good Part is - if you wife works, she can give you a helping hand and then moving here will be worth it. Else it is seriously going to be a squeeze!

But this is a great place! Safe, fun and diverse. I love it here!

MY SUGGESTION - Ain't worth the move ALL the way from N.America.

  2. 15,000 I can say will be just enough for you guys....!!!!

If u live in Ajman or Sharjah rent for a 1BHK will be 2,500-3,000 per month... but if it is Dubai then it can go upto 6,000-7,000 even for a studio.

1,500 for food & entertainment... I & my husband live here & 1,500 is more than enough, dont worry.

500 for school, all good indian schools it is max 500... if it is british or american school it is 2,500 per month. say for books etc 200 more....

& 500 for entertainment. & 1500 for Vehicle(but for that u shud set aside 10,000 for getting license first)

    So finally i conclude

If u live in Ajman say 7,000 expense & 8,000 save for u...

If u live in Dubai say 10,000 expense & only 5,000 save for u...

I have the experience so telling u....

    dont get misguided...

    All the best.

  3. not worth dear even it is much more as the position given to u

  4. If you rent a studio apartment, it would cost you atleast 5000 dirhams (depending on whether you go for a furnised home or an unfurnished one) in and around the mentioned area. If you travel to the outskirts, you can probably cut your rentals by around 30 to 40%. As petrol costs appx 1.5 dhms.litre, your vehicle expenses will be negligible(max 500), so remember, public transport hardly exists. Food and water expenses should  come to around 3000 per mnth. I am not aware of the schooling expenses, Assuming you spend around 1500 on entertainment and leisure, the rest is your savings.

  5. Dear,

If you are in a starting up in career life, it will be a good package for you.

But, of course it will not be a great offer for a procurement officer, especially in a construction company. The cost of living in Dubai is too high and it will be very hard to live with your family here in Dubai at a salary of 15000 AED (Hope this is the gross monthly salary out of which the accommodation+transportation and all spending), Of course you will be able to find a sharing accommodation over there. or find a studio/1BHK at a rate of 80-100Kper annum. So after deducting other expenses also, you will not be able save some thing.

Best of Luck and Welcome to UAE.

    Thx
