  1. Your teacher will be the big factor here...Some people just are born with a nack for it...You might be one of them...Would love to here about it in a year or so :)

  2. Its never too late to start. I started at 17 and didn't really have much experience with jumping my bicycles and stuff so I went into the sport kind of scared. To ride well you have to respect your limitations but not fear them if that makes sense. You'll probably be more confident with jumping even though you'll be doing it with 200lbs between your legs and hitting 30ft +

Just practice, practice, practice and it will come to you like it did for me.

  3. There is no rule saying you must start young, but the more time you have riding the better.

Like Auburn say's in her answer, most pro's were riding whilst still in single figure age.

The best advice is to give it a go. Best of luck to you.

  4. No it is not, get your self a 125 2 stroke or a 250 4 stroke. Start in the D class at local AMA sanctioned events and keep practicing.

  5. It would be a big ask if you were thinking about going pro in a couple of years, but it is possible to still get quite good and get a lot of enjoyment out of racing.  Most who end up pros usually start racing at around 4 years old, but there is  many different levels of racing, so there is something for everyone and as long as you don't expect to be the next Chad Reed within 6 months it is all good and a lot of fun.
