  1. Its hard. You have no racing background. A lot of these guys have been racing in some way since they were kids. Now that your 16 maybe get a spot light on amature SCCA racing. You have to buy some kind of race machine. You don't just go to F1. You race midgets around dirt tracks, or od VWs in amature rally events. Get into racing, but if F1 is your dream maybe become a mechanic you may be able to overwhelm someone with technical ablity. I think too old for racing unless your a natural like Schumacher, but 16 is right up the alley for learning how to build and make race machines. Start with anything. Swamp buggies are fun too.

  2. You are never too old to start a career usually the sooner and younger you start the better you are, but go-karting is a good place to start.

  3. Definitely not. If u r gd n follo a path which goes a bit like this:

    Formula Renault UK

    British Formula 3

    Renault World Series

    GP2

    F1

    Gd luck n i hope u get 2 F1. I probably won't no hu u r tho.

    I'm 13 n wanna work in F1 but not as a driver. Gals r not allowed! I don't c this as bad.

  4. I'm sorry to say this, but you are definitely too old to start racing with a goal of making it to F1. Nowadays 12 is the oldest you can start karting and then you need to be winning right away as 16 is when most top drivers enter F1 team development programs. If the Red Bull talent search was still going on I'd say enter that, but unfortunately it doesn't exist anymore. That said you can still try and make it to another form of racing, such as the IRL, touring car, GT, or endurance racing. NASCAR is also an option if you don't mind racing relatively primitive cars almost exclusively on ovals. I wish you the best of luck as you try and start a racing career.

  5. not at all but you would have to be one of the best ever known to drive and have a ton of money to make it that far in a short amount of time. most have been racing karts since they were 5 or 6

  6. No, it's not too old but you'll have to be fantastic to get spotted...

  7. If you are good, you are never too old.

If you have the capability to be a good driver, you can join the ranks of the current drivers anytime.

Just do it if you want to.

  8. it would be tough very tough, not impossible.

if youre quick you could still have a good racing career maybe to f1 level but in touring cars or gt championships after karting

  9. Its a little old but you might make it to some form of open wheel racing.

Start in karts and move to Formula BMW if you can. If you win the FBMW championship you are entered in a race against other FBMW champs from around the world. You win that race you get a test with the BMW Sauber F1 team.

Winning FBMW also opens the door to other series like Champ Car Atlantics or the Indy Lights series, Which can lead to an Indycar ride or a Grand-Am or ALMS seat.(if you can't get into F1 or move to europe and want to race at a high level in the USA).

But if really want to become an F1 driver you need to move to Europe and eventually try to race in the World Series by Renault and F3 when you get older to really have a shot at F1.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

  10. It's not impossible, but it would be very very difficult.

There are many formulas below F1 that you must clear, and to clear each one you basically need to be the best in it, or at least very nearly the best!

I wouldn't pin my hopes on getting into F1. It's very hard to do even if you are very good, you either need to be loaded or get sponsorship from somewhere, which could be tricky if they think you're too old. Enjoy karting, for sure, but please don't go into karting just because you want to be an F1 driver.

  11. Noo thats young.
