  1. It's a very good score for all but the top law schools.

  2. From Wikipedia...

'Although the exact percentile of a given score will vary slightly between examinations, there tends to be little variance. The 50th percentile is typically a score of about 151; the 90th percentile is around 164 and the 99th is about 172. A 178 or better usually places the examinee in the 99.9th percentile.'

So looks like you're just within the top 10%. But then again I suspect you already knew that and made this topic so that people would pat you on the back and tell you how smart you are. Grats to you...

  3. It's above average. Only 1.6% of test takers score above 170, according to Powerscore.

Log into LSAC and have a look at the percentile rankings there. You'll see where you would've stood on last year's LSAT, but but the 2008-09.

It changes every year. My dad scored 179 for instance 27 years ago, when the logic puzzles weren't quite as complex.

They're just looking to cull the herd each year a bit more, so that foreign lawyers can get in under special admission programs.

The LSAT is in deep trouble by the way. It will be phased out in the next 10 to 15 years by most, if not all, law schools, since human rights lawyers who claim that it's discriminatory are already starting to win court challenges against its use.
