Is 17 to young to be engaged?

i'm 17 and my boyfrind asked me to marry him, and i said yes! We have been dating for over 2 years!

    I'd say you are WAY too young.  You have heartache ahead if you go ahead with this.

  5. Im your age. My boyfriend and I are to be engaged at the end of this school year when we graduate. However, we are being careful not to marry for at least a few years after that. We're not getting engaged to just be married, we are getting engaged to make a promise to each other that we will spend the rest of our lives together.

    So to answer your question, no, seventeen is not too young to be engaged if it is for the right reasons. However, it is too young to actually be considering marriage.

  8. I know a few people who married when one was 16.   They are both good healthy relationships now many years later.   I knew who i wanted to marry at age 17, though... we didnt actually marry for a few more years.  I'm nearing 30 now and couldnt be happier.  So I have to put out as an aswer

The honest answer is that it is hard to say.  A friend of mine got married at the age of 16 and has been married for over 12 years and is very happy.  It can be done that is for sure.  Marriage takes a lot of work and there is no way I could have understood that concept at 17.  I know it would have been a mistake for me.  Maybe it isn't for you.  I will suggest that you stay single and live life.  You need to find out who you are and that usually happens after college and/or when you've entered the career world.  My advice is to give yourself some time to grow.

  12. No way, gurl!! I think its really sweet. And you're only engaged, not married yet. I would wait til i turned 18 to actually marry, but 17 is a great age to be engaged at in my opinion!! You go gurl!!! Congrats and best of luck to you and your "hubby-to-be!!"  lol    ;-)

  13. For most people, it's too young.  Especially since the two of you have been together since you were 15.  Neither of you has really tasted life.
