I've been doing cheerleading for about 7 years and the gymnastics part is really starting to get to hard for my body to handle. My big dream is to be able to dance for a college but I don't know if I'm to old to start.

  1. you're never too old to start especially if you have cheered. start taking classes and never give up!

  2. Girl go for it. I'm 16 and am just beginning my dance career. Everyone told me I was too old to start and now I'm proving everyone wrong. It's never too late =]

  3. Nope not too old at all

  4. your never too old to dance. dancing is just another hobby. beside, with 7 years of cheerleading, i think you'll do great. if your gonna start out late, you should seriously practice.

  5. Definetely not!Even though it is partly true that learning dance at younger ages is easier to learn you are still young and your age might actually help you with technique and many other things! So dont think you are too old.

  6. You can dance at any age.

  7. nope thats what i did, and its absolutly worth it

  8. what do you mean dance for a college? like join a a college dance team and compete?

  9. The Cheerleading will really help a lot! With counts etc.

If you mean Hip-Hop dancing gymnastics will give you some great tricks to throw in a free-style routienes.

Gymnastics is hard on you, my friend who just quit aspires to dance also. I'd find a local dance studio and get private lessons for a while, until the teacher can decide which level you're at, once you've learned the basics! I'm a dancer and love it to pieces!

    Good Luck!

Dancing is good on the soul!

  10. no your not to old go for it :)

  11. definitely go right ahead!

the cheer has probably helped you loads more than you thing, and the gym tricks always help with the strength.

take a beginner class and see where you stand, then level up if you need too.

it does depend on the college, but you should be able to dance just fine with all of the training you have!

  12. My mom tried to dance in her 40's. I don't think your too old. I'm trying to start my irish dancing again so your not too old.

  13. You are already ahead of learning with your experiences. You can do dance recital in college, a solo if you want, if you learn. You're not too old to start dancing - unless you want to dance for the ABT or such Ballet companies. But you can do Ballet and Jazz after you become proficient with it. And there are other dance style like Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical... Lots of people started even older than you, even more than twice your age and had a dance career.
