Is 18 years old the age you have to be to move out?

I'm seventeen and would like to move out of my parents house without having to go through the emancipation process. Is there any easy way to do that? Can 17 be the legal age? I live in New Mexico if that matters.

it depends on if you want to move out well i'm planning 2 but it'll be hard you'll have to pay your own bills and stuff

i think it's 18 in every state.

In not sure but most people move out when they are 18. i would wait another year..

No, 18 is the legal age.  You don't *have* to move out or support yourself at that age, but you have the option to, and your parents are no longer required to support you.

If you're being abused, then call Child Protective Services.  

If you're not being abused, then get some practice supporting yourself.  Treat home as a place to sleep and change clothes - spend every other waking minute out of the house, focusing on school and work.  Get a job to support yourself financially (you'll need that anyway when you move out) and finish your schooling (you'll need that to get a job that can support you financially).  

Save all the money you earn so that you can afford your own place the minute you turn 18.  It's not that far away, and you'll need all that time to successfully launch yourself as an independent adult.

i don't know about new Mexico but i live in Florida and over here u have to be 18 to be able to move out of your parents house...but im telling you its not as easy as you probably think it is i moved out the next day after i turned 18 and i have bills and some much more to pay and after i moved out my parents wouldn't let me move back in its so hard just wait till u  have enough money saved up so u know u'll have money for bills and food and rent cuz nothing in life is free and i learned that the hard way.....if u want to email me here is my email [e-mail] my name is Ashley
