Is 19 days after having s*x too soon to test for pregnancy?

Yes that is a bit too soon, it will probably come out negetive. But if you really are dying to know, go for it, I mean the worst that will happen is it will say no, right?! lol, just make sure you test again in about a week and a half to two weeks, and especially if you don't get your period. Most tests can only determine up to 4-5 days before your period though, and even then if you read the instructions it says that if you do it that early itsonly like a 33% accurate chance. It probably depends a lot on how long your cycle is. I would go by whether or not you have missed a period. If you have, take a test. Honestly 19 days does sound like enough time. I think most people ovulate about 2 weeks before their period...At least that is my understanding.

You can only get pregnant when there is an egg to fertilize. So If you ovulated around the time you had s*x 19 days ago it would be possible for a pregnancy test to give you an accurate result.

I'd suggest, if you are TTC, to start monitoring your ovulation.  From your next period (if you're not already pregnant!), after ovulation has occurred, you can test approx 14 days after. xx

it really depens on when you ovulated. you can test about 12 days after ovulation but some people get results faster.

However, I think 19 days is sufficient. Most tests detect pregnancy with 99% accuracy from when you miss your period. Most women have 14 days from ovulation to their period (luteal phase) - and this ranges from 12 to 16 days.

Say you have the average 14 day luteal phase (about 80% of women do) it's most likely you have missed your period - that is, if you had s*x around ovulation
