Is 19 too young to volunteer in Africa?

I'll be 19 next summer and our provincial government subsidizes volunteer missions in Africa and South America. You only need to be 18 to go, but I still wonder if its too young to take on such serious missions.

Safety is the priority. If a country isn't safe, then it wouldn't make sense to go there.

Some are safe, others are aren't that safe.

Research on the country thoroughly about its safety, work atmostphere, etc before going there. Get opinions also from your family, friends, and relatives.
