  1. I've only ever heard of 2 point ...

  2. For all practical purposes, your half seat and your 2 point are the same thing.

There are minor differences - technically, you are more up and out of your saddle at a 2 point.

However, I believe that both your old and new instructors are referring to the position in which you hold when jumping a jump.

    Hope this helps!!

  3. As far as I know they are.  It's also called jumping position.

  4. well i would consider it the same thing...cause it pretty much is.

  5. no not really half seat is what you do when you are cantering and 2 pointing is what you are doing over a fence. Your upper body is closer to the horses neck when you 2pt over a fence and you are a little bit higher out of the saddle.

Another name for 2  point is jump release.

  6. two point- you only have two points touching the saddle meaning  you come out of the saddle

half seat- I was always taught it as 'three point' but you do not come out of the saddle like you do in two point.

  7. ive also heard half seat referred to as "quarter point", so its a bit like a lower 2 point, where you are slightly out of the saddle and about a quarter of the way up the horses neck, as opposed to 2 point wher you are completely out of the saddle and have your hands about halfway up the neck

  8. no they arent the same. 2 point is called 2 point because only two points of your body are making contact with the horse and saddle. half seat is between 3 point (sitting) and 2 point.
